Did You Know William Stafford's Ask Me?

I love "Ask Me" by William Stafford. Poetry Class in last Semester introduce me to some poem that really memorable to me. "Ask Me" is one of those poem.

Professor Suryo-- who lecture us in Poetry class last semester only made appearance three or four times in one semester, but his voice whenever he read a poem is one of the voice I couldn't ever forget.

It's just like some vibes I could've remember whenever I'm looking at water or sky at dawn. The fresh air in the corner of Selat Madura and the sound of little wave in the sea.

ASK ME
by: William Stafford (1914-1993)

Some time when the river is ice ask me
mistakes I have made. Ask me wether
what I have done is my life. Others
have come in their slow way into
my thought, and some have tried to help
or to hurt-- ask me what difference
their strongest love or hate has made

I will listen to what you say.
You and I can turn and look
at the silent river and wait. We know
the current is there, hidden; and there
are comings and goings from miles away
that hold the stillness exactly before us.
What the river says, that is what I say.

I remember went to the corner of the sea with my nephew. It's very early in the morning, I have to take care for him because my mother always prepared a breakfast before I go to college. The assignments started to burn my head, but take a morning walk with nephew sometimes bring me a moment of piece.

Here is My Nephew and I.

Hahaha. I hope this is quite interesting!
